"Fall Thoughts"
Well, FALL has come once again, and it won't be long till we are all drinking hot cider, taking drives in the countryside to see all the Fall colors on all those trees, and yes, speaking of those Fall leaves; we'll all soon be raking up the Fall leaves! Oh joy.
I love the Fall for so many reasons, the cooler days, sitting by a warm fireplace watching the logs burn, the Fall colors popping out and of course watching the harvest at farms all over the county.
Ah yes, harvest time in the country. Bringing in the crops and giving thanks for another bountiful year. I do hope with all the business of life, you can take some time to bow your head and give thanks to the Lord for all His many blessings: family, friends, for..."food on the table, I've got plenty to eat, a roof up above me, and shoes on my feet. You gave me your love Lord and a fine family;
Thank you Lord, for your blessings on me." Be refreshed, and refresh others.

The Age of "The Selfie"
Hi friends,
I was just on Face Book, and viewing posts from friends and family, and could not hardly get through a few pages and there were lots, and lots of pictures of, well yes, Friends and Family. Lots of picture. Then I paused at a post from my niece, and yes another picture. This one of her at the end of, "The First Day of School." A befrazzeled picture and a comment,
I replied...All about "selfies" right? This is me getting the kids up, this is me getting the kids off to school...yes and this is me at the end of a school day. Selfies. Just teasing you girl, I love to see the pictures, and watch your incredible family growing up before our eyes. You were that little girl going off to school at one time. Where has all this time gone? Ahhhrg! I am feeling so old; Move over, and let me take a selfie! Get Refreshed, tomorrow holds the opportunity to take more, "Selfies!"

"Stand Tall"
This stately old tree, a Giant Redwood,
located outside Santa Cruz, CA
has weathered many storms and fires over a hundred years, that have left it
battered and scared yet it still reaches up to the sun each new day.
t’s roots have grown strong and hold it in place no matter what the rains, wind and storms of life throw it’s way.
This grand tree, though it is scared by life has grown to a height of nearly 300 feet tall and massive in width.
I can remember my brothers and I playing in it’s cave-like scar. My own kids have played around this old friend which towers over the grove.
The amazing fact that Redwoods, as giant as they are, have a very shallow root system that requires them to join their roots with others to stand tall! It is being joined with others that give these truly remarkable giants their strength to stand against whatever weather throws at them.
It’s then, I remember the words of the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 3: 17 and 18:
17 “so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”
It’s you, being rooted and established in love;
It’s “The Power of Togetherness” of God’s people that enables you to stand tall against the challenges that life throws at you. You maybe battered and scared by life;
Be rooted and established in God’s awesome love, and
Be connected to others of like faith my friend.

A Word About Discipleship…
A Word About Discipleship…
Have you ever heard someone say, "I tried Christianity, and it didn't work for me!"
The truth is, that for many people, the 'Church' has let them down. We invite friends, and even family to visit church, and for many the seed of the Word of God is planted in the heart by a timely message that pricks the heart, but there is little to no follow up; no discipleship. And when they fall away for lack of follow-up they say, "I tried Christianity, and it didn't work for me, didn't help me and I don't need church!"
Consistency is what they needed, a commitment to continue to go to church for relationship building and a grounding in Bible understanding and a training that leads to application of the Bible to life and an understanding that "Life in Christ, is a life-long commitment", not a trial period to see if, 'God works for me or not.'
As a radio marketing executive and manger, I ran into many business owners who, "Tried Radio" and found it didn't work for them. The reason? They never gave themselves to commit to it for 'the long haul', and because there was someone who failed them by not developing a relationship with them first and who failed to work with them to develop a personalized plan, to teach them that success comes with commitment to a plan. For those businesses that committed to a long term plan and were consistent, they saw continued growth year to year. Can that translate to a relationship with Christ?
Relationship, commitment, planning, consistency in personal discipleship with new believers for, "The Long Haul", leads to growth and helping them maintain a walk with Christ.
Do churches see this, and do they practice this? Can we change to practice what we preach? Here is hoping we can. ~ Pastor David.

I have lost some really good friends over the last few years, each leaving their foot prints for me to follow. With the death of friends and family, it puts "YOUR" life in a new prospective. I have taken a long look at what has been important. I loved elementary school, H.S., college and grad school. It seems some of my best days were spent in school and with great friends I met and interfaced with over the years, thank you all!!
I really enjoyed being a Disc Jokey and working in radio, "Those were the Days My friends".
The best days however, are reserved for my kids! My boys and my lovely daughter have brought the most joy to my life; "they put color to the black and white pallet of my life!",( DR 2009) ...And a special thank you "shout -out" to the wife who put up with me for 35 years! WoW! What can I say, she's a Saint.
Life is to short to live with regrets, hold resentments, or worry about tomorrow, today has enough to worry about, right?
Take each day as a 'gift', that is why it is the present, and live each day to the fullest for your family, friends and yes your faith. Live your faith before others as to not be ashamed.
Remember, none of us is getting out of this Earth alive, so get yourself ready; I am. ~ David Rails.
